Home and away

Life is very full and very fast.  Every night I sneak into the kids rooms to give them one last kiss goodnight before I go to bed.  Their cheeks are so warm and their faces are so peaceful.  It is always the moment of the day when I feel so privileged.  Being their mom and witnessing their adventures is the best part of my life.  Lately we have had a lot of adventure, both home and away...

Lego princess

R asks: B can I cuddle you?
B replies: Sure!

Stanley Park

The Aquarium

Daddy & Daughter

B rode his bike into a parked car face first.  Somehow, the impact knocked his previously damaged teeth back into place and now the top two "money" teeth are back in the right place, albeit a bit wiggly!  Those two teeth are not long for this world!

Checking out Daddy's office

Daddy's view

The carnival came to town!  Thrill ride!

The carousel is still a favourite of R & Gma

So glad these two have each other for two person rides

...RKA and I just wouldn't fit into those little cars very gracefully!

 Experimenting with accessories

After five years our furball has accepted the fact that the kids are here to stay and she is even tolerating some grooming!
B is practicing on his two-wheeler and he is able to ride but he is not quite confident yet...still prefers his balance bike.

Easter Egg Experts - we decorated over 40 eggs on Good Friday!

 Fearless hunters...

We spent two weekends in a row away....
 ...biking
 ...playing

....bathing

Now we're back home in reality.  Looking forward to a weekend of riding bikes on our little cul-de-sac, pulling weeds and maybe even shoveling some bark mulch!

Heart

The other week Ruby asked me to show her a picture of a human heart inside of a body.  So I obliged and googled a diagram of a human heart - she was not satisfied.
No, Mommy, an actual heart that is beating.
Um, okay...so I pulled up a video on utube of an open heart surgery and she was mesmerized.
I was surprised that it didn't freak her out but she was just keenly interested.

We have been creating many hearts around here - mostly paper ones.  Paper chains, banners, glittered cut-outs, valentines...

In stark contrast to January we have had really mild weather this month.  Park days in February are always welcome.

The kids with their favourite stuffies, "Twinkle" and "Parrot"...R&B are their parents and refer to them as "the boys"...as in, "Should we take the boys for a walk?" or "Are the boys hungry for a snack".  It is one game that they both enjoy and usually ends well.

Spreading her wings...

The kids had a hot chocolate stand today.  They were a good little team and made a little chunk of change which R has independently decided to donate to the Salvation Army.

Dance parties in the front room...

B is a breaker...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Big

We have a big girl in the house now!  R turned 5 on Sunday and we celebrated with an art party.  Ten of her nearest and dearest were dropped off and the creative juices were flowing.  We did fingerpainting, splatterpainting, directed drawing, crafts, and watercolour painting.  Then we had presents, cupcakes and a dance party.  It was quite a shaker!

Our sweet pea is now 5!  She is convinced that she is practically an adult and spent most of the afternoon today pouring her own drinks.  Juice, water, milk.  Just because she can.  She has also figured out how to work the remote control for the TV and is pausing her show to "go check her brother" and then returning to watch her show.  Just because she can.  This all makes sense when you are newly 5.

We have been snowed in here.  Last week the kids school was cancelled all week and mine was cancelled for two days.  Our little cul-de-sac was one of the last in town to be plowed so we were pretty much housebound for the week.  So that meant...

Snowmen!

Snow Angels!

Toboganning!

Igloos!

Posing!

Pulling!

and riding!

Between recovering from Christmas, planning for R's party, being evaluated at work, and being snowed in...January flew by!  It was a big month!
